Champion Care Home Hydration with Tetley’s Hydration Handbook
The nations No.1 tea brand, Tetley is excited to announce the launch of the Hydration Handbook – the go-to guide to help care homes implement best-in-class practices. The care sector has been a focal point for Tetley throughout 2017 and the Hydration Handbook has been created with care professionals and caterers in mind and offers insight and advice to help keep residents hydrated in all care environments.
In addition, industry experts, including Steve Fox, Purchasing Director for Bartlett Mitchell, Martin McKee, Head Chef at The Hawthorns Aldridge care home, David Koller from Café des Arts and Tom Jolly, Beverage Manager for Gleneagles Hotel contributed to the research, offering their professional outlook on the out of home market and the tea category.
The Hydration Handbook covers a variety of aspects that all contribute to tackling dehydration within care residence. From helping carers spot the signs of insufficient hydration to exciting activity ideas, the handbook encompasses Tetley’s advanced knowledge of the care channel, as well as offering inspirational recipe ideas. Despite some common myths regarding caffeine and hydration, tea contributes towards levels of hydration and different types of tea (such as green and fruit & herbal blends) have additional health and wellbeing benefits. Tea is a beverage to enjoy when socialising, so getting residents together over a warming cuppa is a great way to keep them connected with each other, staff and visitors. The top factor in a tea drinkers’ choice is a well-known brand - with the help of the Hydration Handbook, care home staff can help residents feel at home with a trusted and recognisable brand like Tetley.
Following successful months working with Martin McKee, and Nutrition & Hydration Week and as a premier partner of The National Association of Care Catering (NACC), we are delighted to be able to share our 180 years of expertise with care home catering and care teams via the Tetley Hydration Handbook. Tetley is dedicated to providing education to help highlight the significance of tea in care surroundings and the importance of tea in maintaining sufficient nutrition and hydration in not only residence, but staff and visitors too.
The Tetley Hydration Handbook was launched at the NACC Training and Development Forum on the 4th – 6th October, the ideal event to promote the guide. Also at the NACC TDF, Tetley unveiled its brand new Tea Cart - a transportable tea serving station. The forum was a great three days, full of insight and education of new materials and tools, as well as a celebration of the fantastic work and commitment within the care channel.
